English Title: First Love, Last Love
Translated by: Gigi

First love or a last love,
when one person has departed one day.
First love or a love to come,
or a pain that one doesn't know how long it would last.
One day I could love,
then one day I become depressed alone,
I knew how to stay awake; I knew emptiness,
and I knew the taste of bitterness.
But life is like when one is dreaming,
when we love without knowing how the days will turn out.
The first love often ferments pain,
that's why a heart in love drips blood sometimes.
How could anyone know the ending to a first love?
Feeling ashamed, then our hearts swoon in regret
and lie in wait for the return of our beloved.
So that first love is only in our memories now...

My dear, my dear, where are you now?
How can I kiss a strand of your tangled hair?
My dear, my dear, where are you now?
How can we, how can we have each other?
My dear, my dear, where are you now?
Is your name really engraved on that tombstone?
My dear, my dear, where are you now?
Leaving this first love as a last love bringing pain to our hearts!

First love or a last love,
when life is nothing but only pain.
First love or a love to come,
or a dream when one stays awake in the middle of the tender night.
It is only a dream, but
the entire world can watch this dream drift,
Sometimes there is amazement;
Sometimes there is fondness, and sometimes there are hardships.
Although love is really faint and slender,
when we love, our hearts become the color blue. (1)
Although love is beautiful like that of a painting,
but a plain painting will never be what our hearts desire.
Love in this life is still vast and limitless,
but the road on life is still viewed as too short,
Turning life into one where people
embrace their hardships while dreaming.

(1) Our hearts becoming the color blue is a metaphor for a pure and innocent heart.

  1. i think when we love, our hearts become the color green (as in hopeful not blue as in sad).

  2. I translated it to blue because I thought that it means an innocent heart, not a sad one. The blue = sad is an English metaphor, not a Vietnamese one. The word “xanh” is often used in Vietnamese songs and it is often referred to as blue. I would like to hear more from you though. šŸ™‚

  3. Thank you, very much i realy enjoy that.
